2008: John Tuite. A new hybrid of G. oxonianum and G. psilostemon with dark green leaves heavily blotched chocolate brown and masses of rich purple-pink, narrow petalled flowers in summer. 60cm. For average to good soil in full sun.

There are several similar hybrids now ('Catherine Deneuve' probably the best known) but this is the only one we have seen with the chocolate brown blotching on the leaves from the Geranium x oxonianum parent. This foliage marking gives a longer season of interest to the plant as it looks good for a few months before flowering.

The flowers on Geranium 'Midnight Star' are pretty tiny individually but the cloud of them spreads over the top of the plant and the massed effect is quite striking. A few customers have dismissed 'Midnight Star' at first glance then come back and bought one (or three) when they have seen it again!
