Idaho Mountain Wildflowers:Geranium viscosissimum, appears in the spring and flowers into September. The flowers are radially symmetrical, and five petaled. They are usually pink with deep red to purple veins, although their colors may vary from almost white to a very deep pink or lavender. Deeply cut leaves are a distinguishing feature of the plant. The Sticky Geranium prefers, but is not restricted to, shaded areas, and after a wet spring is found along our trails, as high as 9000 feet. The leaves and stems feel sticky to the touch which explains both its common and scientific names Description botanique : General: Herbaceous perennial, the stems 4-9 dm. tall, with short hairs below often changing to stalked glands above.
